The Drake Experience draws from a wide American songbook: Dylan, the Wood Brothers, The Band, the Grateful Dead. Frank Drake, Joe Mahoney, Paul Dilley, and Jim Weston have been making noise in greater Boston and beyond.
Drake and Mahoney go back. In the late eighties and early nineties they fronted Inner Beauty, a band that split the difference between Sonic Youth and Captain Beefheart on a diet of almost entirely original material. The Drake Experience carries that spirit forward — older, louder, still restless.
